Safe Streets in Flint

The future of Flint depends on creating safe streets and neighborhoods where people can build a good life for themselves and where businesses can prosper and grow. Dayne Walling knows that to get this city moving in the right direction we need to make the entire city safe. As mayor, he will enact a comprehensive gun-violence reduction strategy. He will direct the police force to improve their response time to all criminal acts, and he will be committed to providing our police officers with the necessary resources and training to fulfill their role to protect the citizens of Flint.

A Call for a Fair, Legal and Honest Election

Today, Dayne attended a press conference with other challengers and Citizens for Accountable Government in Flint to call for a fair, legal and honest mayoral election in both the August primary and November general election.

This action was predicated upon the questionable campaign tactics by Mayor Don Williamson and his administration in past elections and now evidencing themselves in this election. During the press conference Dayne called for the boycott of Patsy Lou Williamson's dealerships, until the MI Secretary of State's investigation is concluded.

The Road Map to Opportunity

Dayne has released one of his detailed proposals from his Road Map to Opportunity this week—Community Centers Plus . Each of the nine parts of the Road Map outline Dayne’s plan to bring jobs and opportunity back to Flint and once again put people first at City Hall. Be sure to return to our web site often; each week Dayne will share another of his proposals with the people of Flint.

First Mayoral Debate

The first Flint mayoral debate was held Thursday night at Asbury United Methodist Church. While many of the other candidates railed against the current administration and discussed their plans to form yet another committee for every problem facing Flint, Dayne broke from the pack by outlining his plans to build on Flint’s strengths, forge partnerships, revitalize our neighborhoods, and bring JOBS to Flint.

You can view ABC 12’s coverage of the debate by clicking here.

Road Map Community Forum at the Sarvis Center

It was an exciting week for the Walling for Mayor Campaign. Tuesday night’s presentation of Dayne’s Road Map to Opportunity was a great success. Over 30 concerned community members were on hand to learn more about Dayne’s plan to bring opportunity back to Flint. Attendees also participated in a feedback session focusing on jobs, neighborhoods, and putting people first at City Hall.

Dayne believes that good leaders start by listening to the people they represent and finding out what is important to them. There will be many opportunities this summer for Dayne to share his vision for a revitalized city with the people of Flint, and he wants to hear from everyone who is concerned about the future of our great city.

You Are Invited

There are two ways that you can get involved in the Walling for Mayor Campaign next week.

On Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Sarvis Center on Kearsley St. Dayne will present his plan to bring opportunity back to Flint by putting people first at city hall, strengthening our neighborhoods and bringing back jobs. Following the presentation, work groups for Flint's people, neighborhoods and jobs will take a look at more detailed proposals.

On Thursday night at 7:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church on Davison Rd, Dayne will participate in the first mayoral candidate debate. The debate is presented by the Progressive Caucus of the Genesee County Democratic Party. The event is free and open to the public.
