Despite the rain, I was out going door to door in Ward 1. When the door to Mr. Quinn's home was opened, I saw this beautiful painting on the wall. He told me that he taught visual arts in the Flint schools for many years and had recently retired. A fellow Flint Central graduate, Mr. Quinn had gone on to the University of Michigan where he was a Big Ten wrestling champion. During his time as a teacher, he shared his love of the arts with students at Flint Central, Southwestern and Holmes. It is a blessing to have such a creative spirit in our city.

Flint should be a great place for artists--plenty of space and low rents. I wish Mr. Quinn would do some murals around here.
