As the final days of Flint Central draw near...
Today was an early start for many students, alumni, and supporters of Flint Central. WJRT spotlighted Central during its early morning broadcast in conjunction with Central's Spirit Day. This year's Spirit Day has a serious side in addition to its usual fun activities. This year we are raising money for the food bank. Every dollar results in 9 lbs of food. We want to raise 1,000 pounds for every year of the school--that is 86 years, 1923 to 2009. This means we need $100 for every Flint Central class since the school opened in 1923.I am pledging $100 for my class of 1992 and $100 for my grandfather's class, Flint Central class of 1935. I am asking you to contribute in honor of your class.
Checks can be written and sent to:
Flint Central High School
601 Crapo St. Flint, MI 48503
Please write Food Drive in the memo line
The deadline for checks to be received is May 15th. We have raised over $3,000 already. Please send your contribution as soon as possible.
Central is competing with other high schools in the region to see who can raise the most money for the food bank. The school that raises the most in the ABC 12 competition will go back on the air before school is out.
This is our chance to honor our great school and also serve our city. Flint Central may be closing but our spirit will never pass.
