Flint's Block Clubs and Neighborhood Organizations
Flint is fortunate to have a strong tradition of block clubs and neighborhood organizations. Dayne Walling knows that these groups play a vital role in working for positive change in our community. He recently attended a ward 5 meeting where public safety, overgrown lawns and city parks, and ways in which the community could reuse school buildings were discussed. Dayne attended the Neighborhood Coalition Meeting at the Northside mini-station this week where the focus was on ways to hold the Land Bank accountable for its properties and ways to diversify Flint's economy. Dayne also attended a block club meeting at the corner of McClellan and Proctor where the neighbors were very concerned with the abandonment of Civic Park, neighborhood code enforcement, and the city finances.Dayne is going to need every one's help to work for real change in Flint. Block club and neighborhood association leaders will be encouraged to also be leaders in Dayne's Neighborhood Action Teams. The Neighborhood Action Team's mission will be to address the concerns specific to each ward of the city by organizing existing city workers into teams accountable for improving our community through collaboration and joint planning.
Block Club leaders are encouraged to call the Walling for Mayor office at 233-9190 and schedule a time to meet with Dayne to share your plans and concerns for your neighborhoods.
