Local Businesses Rate Walling the Preferred Candidate on Job Creation
After interviewing both candidates, the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce rated Dayne Walling as the preferred candidate for job creation. The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce is made up of hundreds of small, medium, and large local businesses throughout Flint and the Region. The interview was done by the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee.
“One of the things I‘m most proud of as Mayor is my record on job creation”said Walling. “Over 2,000 jobs have been brought back to Flint since I took office and we’re not stopping with that. I know that by working together, providing the right leadership and focusing on fiscal responsibility we can add more in the future.”

More Cops on the Streets of Flint
The City of Flint will soon have six additional police officers on patrol and in our neighborhoods. These officers will allow the police department to better fulfill its mission of responding to the community’s public safety concerns.
The hiring of six additional police officers was made possible by a $1.2 million three year grant through the Obama administration’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program. The grant will cover the full cost of salary and benefits for the officers. The grant is just the latest example of Dayne’s success in finding creative solutions to fighting crime in these financial challenging times.
Dayne has also worked with the Flint Police and Michigan State Police to increase neighborhood patrols, secured funding for more jail beds, and worked with the U.S. Attorney’s office to ensure that anyone convicted of a crime with a gun does at least four years of federal time.
