Campaign finance reports due in local races; Flint Mayor Dayne Walling has reported spending $34,836

FLINT, Michigan — Campaign finance reports are due today for local races, including the Flint mayor contest.
As of 10 a.m. today, Mayor Dayne Walling was the only Flint candidate who filed a report, which showed he spent $34,846 on his re-election campaign from August to Oct. 23 reporting deadline.
The report shows that Walling has spent a total of $189,274 for his entire re-election campaign.
The other Flint mayor candidate Darryl Buchanan has until 4 p.m. today to file his campaign finance reports, according to the Genesee County elections office.
After spending the $34,846 on campaign expenses, Walling had $21,247 heading into the last couple of weeks before the election.
Walling and Buchanan face off for the mayoral seat on the Nov. 8 general election.
